My interest in photography traces back to high school – the days of acne, film cameras, and dark rooms. I recall very little about high school, but I vividly remember being ‘on assignment’ for that photography class and traveling afar (2 – 3 miles) to a truly wild and exotic location (a local ostrich farm). Nervously standing near a rusted gate, I fumbled with the settings on my camera and paid little attention to the vicious beast that quickly approached. Somehow, I managed to hit the shutter at the moment an ostrich was leaning in to peck at me, capturing all the anger and fury in his ostrich face. I survived my encounter and captured a fun photo. The ostrich still haunts my dreams.
It’s been… a few years since high school. I’ve traveled a little further than the local ostrich farm, and have taken a few additional photographs along the way. At some point during the journey, I even earned a fancy law degree and established a couple law firms. But while earning a J.D. (law degree) is a nice accomplishment, it pales in comparison to the true inspiration for the name of this photography business – my children (Josh and Dana… hence, “J” and “D”). I wear many hats – I’m a father, photographer, lawyer, and ostrich tamer (ok, maybe failed ostrich tamer). Those hats have allowed me the privilege of capturing some truly amazing moments, both here in the USA and around the world.
